PRESIDENTIAL VISIT FOR COAST CLUBS

Representatives from Beverley Park, Collingwood and Cullercoats tennis clubs have held a meeting with the president of the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA).

Martin Corrie visited North Tyneside as part of a whistle-stop tour of the area’s tennis facilities.

The session with the president, hosted by Cullercoats, provided an ideal opportunity for the coastal tennis clubs to discuss various areas of tennis development.

On the positive meeting, chairman of Collingwood Neil Carmichael said: “The North Tyneside coastal tennis clubs are committed to providing tennis opportunities for people of all ages.

“We were pleased to have the chance to discuss with Martin how we can continue to work closely with the LTA to play our part in progressing the sport and increase participation at a local level.

“We are happy that Martin took the time to visit the coast to hear our thoughts and ideas.”

The three tennis clubs at the coast regularly meet to discuss common issues for smaller clubs.

Mr Corrie, who became LTA president in January, has a tremendous understanding of tennis at all levels from grass roots to performance players and his love of the game is evident.
